Have you ever prayed for God to intervene—and wondered why He didn’t answer?
Maybe you asked Him to heal, restore, provide, or change a situation, but nothing happened. Somewhere along the way, a quiet question surfaced:
Mary and Martha must have wondered the same thing.
Their brother Lazarus was sick, and they knew Jesus could heal him. So they sent word: “Lord, your dear friend is very sick.” But Jesus didn’t come. He waited. By the time He arrived, Lazarus had been dead for four days.
It must have felt as if Jesus had come too late.
But He hadn’t.
“I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying.” —John 11:25
Notice that Jesus didn’t say, “I can give resurrection.” He said, “I am the resurrection.”
Resurrection isn’t merely something Jesus does. It is who He is.
And then we witness something remarkable. Jesus wept. He entered fully into their grief, yet He was not overcome by it. He knew what they could not yet see: death would not have the final word.
Lazarus’ resurrection became a sign pointing to something even greater—the victory Jesus Himself would achieve over death.
That matters when we find ourselves standing beside our own “tombs.” Sometimes the tomb represents physical death. Other times, it takes the form of a broken relationship, a lost dream, deep disappointment, or a situation we have decided is beyond repair.
We may not understand God’s timing. We may wonder why He didn’t intervene sooner. Yet His delay does not mean His absence, and His silence does not mean He has stopped working.
Jesus meets us in our grief, shares our tears, and reminds us that what seems final to us is never beyond His authority.
Because He is the Resurrection and the Life, death is not the end—hope is never lost.
Reflection: Where in your life do you need to trust Jesus with something that feels finished, hopeless, or beyond repair?
Remember this: Jesus is the Resurrection and the Life. Therefore, I can trust Him even when I can’t see what He’s doing.
The more we know who Jesus is, the more confidently we’ll follow Him.
I’ll see you next week as we discover another “I AM” statement.

Continued and repeated encouragement this week about the things happening beyond our sight. God keeps repeating Himself to me. Thank you, Renny, for the words! ❤️
Our Lord is so faithful, Carina!
He knows when we need encouragement and his assurance.
